Week 15 Update

So this week did not go at all as planned for obvious reasons, but I've been attempting to stay busy. As I showed in class on Thursday, I have the crank installed with the 3D printed backing part and it is pretty secure. I also tested the projector with transfer paper as the screen and it looks good. I also made a topper for the switch part this week and it fits/functions, but I might reprint it to be a little bigger just for aesthetics. .

Thursday evening, I decided to go home to be with my family and luckily for me, my dad owns a soldering iron and solder sucker, so I was able to remove all of the old solder off of the switch part and apply fresh wires to what is (hopefully) the correct connections. Next steps are figuring out how to make that work with the arduino and mounting it into the board I have. I would like to overlay the ads with sounds that change as someone moves the switch, kind of inspired by shifting gears in the car. I also like the idea of making the switch alter a visual effect that would sort of contrast what's already happening with the crank, but I don't know what that could be.

On a personal level, I have definitely been better. I am the ambassador director for International Programs and the president of my sorority so there are about 250 people that are counting on me for leadership and support and decisions on how to move forward after the shooting and it is heavy. I can only imagine what it's like for the people who are far more important and influential than me. I feel unmotivated and down, which is not at all how I had planned on ending the semester. It's disappointing, but I am really trying to finish strong because I'm passionate about both of the projects that have come out of this class, and I want to see them fully formed, even if that bleeds into this summer. More updates to come.
